Step 1 of 2 — Before you pay

You'll need your raw DNA file
ready to upload.

This is different from your ancestry report or health insights. It's the raw genetic data file — here's how to get it from each provider.

How to download your raw DNA file

  1. Log into your 23andMe account at 23andme.com
  2. Click your name (top right) → "Settings"
  3. Scroll down to "23andMe Data"
  4. Click "Download Raw Data"
  5. Select "All DNA Raw Data" and confirm your password
  6. 23andMe will email you a download link — this usually takes 1-24 hours
  7. Download the file (it will be a .txt or .zip file)
⏱ Processing time varies. If you don't have your file yet, save this page and come back when it's ready — do not pay until you have the file downloaded.
  1. Log into ancestry.com
  2. Click "DNA" in the top navigation
  3. Click "Settings" (top right of the DNA page)
  4. Scroll to "Download DNA Data"
  5. Click "Download DNA Data" and confirm with your password
  6. You'll receive an email with a download link within a few minutes
  7. Download the file (it will be a .txt file, possibly zipped)
📧 Check your spam folder if you don't see the email within 10 minutes.
  1. Log into myheritage.com
  2. Click "DNA" in the top menu
  3. Click "Manage DNA Kits"
  4. Click the three-dot menu next to your kit → "Download DNA data"
  5. Confirm your password and click "Download"
  6. The file downloads directly — no email required
  1. Log into familytreedna.com
  2. Click your name (top right) → "Account Settings"
  3. Click "Privacy & Sharing"
  4. Under "Download Raw Data" click "Build 37"
  5. The file will download directly to your computer
✓ Accepted file types We accept .txt, .csv, .zip, and .gz files up to 50MB. All four major providers' formats are supported. Do not upload your ancestry report PDF — it must be the raw genetic data file.
